Create a project with the details you have now, then finish setup as you go. You can start with a blank project, reuse a past project or choose a Programa template.
1. Enter the project details
From your Projects dashboard, select Create Project in the top right.
Enter a project name and choose a project type.
Add a timeframe, address and description if you have them.
Upload an internal cover image if you'd like one to help identify the project on your dashboard.
Select Create Project.
Currency and measurement, estimated shipping, tax and website URL are set in Project settings. You can update those details after creating the project.
2. Choose how to start
Choose | When you want to |
Blank | Build the project structure yourself |
Past project | Reuse one of your studio's projects, including a studio template |
Template | Start with a project template prepared by Programa |
Start with Blank
Choose Blank to open the setup page. You can:
Set the project timeframe.
Add phases for the stages of work in Project Management.
Invite team members.
Add locations, such as the rooms or areas you'll use to organize products in schedules.
Create labels to group and filter products, such as Designer Supplied or Custom Made.
These steps are optional. Add what you need, then select Save and continue. Use Up next on the project Overview to complete any setup you've skipped.
Start from a Past project
Choose Past project.
Search your studio's projects, or filter by project type.
Select a project and review the side panel.
Turn on Include products if you want to bring across its products, including specifications, supply details, pricing and attachments.
Turn on Include project files if you want to bring across presentations, Canva shares, pinboards and other files.
Select Use this project.
Phases, tasks, locations, product labels and team members carry over. Timelines, budgets and client details reset for the new project.
Studio templates you've prepared yourself also appear under Past project. For help building one, see Use and create project templates.
Start from a Programa Template
Choose Template, browse the available Programa templates and select the one that suits your project.
Programa templates provide a starting structure for a project type. Depending on the template, this can include phases and tasks, placeholder products, saved schedule views, presentation templates, locations and labels.
Adapt the structure to suit the job. Review placeholder products and remove or replace anything you don't need before sharing schedules with a client.
Programa templates are only available through Create Project → Template. They don't appear as projects on your dashboard.
3. Finish setup from the Overview
On the project's Overview, Up next combines unfinished setup with recommended actions for the project. Select a setup item to complete it, then return as you work for other recommendations, such as logging yesterday's time.
To add team members later, use the Team section on the Overview. To change project details, open Settings in the sidebar.
See Getting started with the project Overview for navigation and Edit project settings and manage team access for settings and team access.
Which type of template do I need?
Programa project template: Choose Create Project → Template for a starting point prepared by Programa.
Studio project template: Choose Create Project → Past project and find a project your studio has prepared for reuse.
