Use one product record for the same item in several rooms or areas. Add each room or area as a location. The quantities for all locations make up the product’s total quantity.
For example, ten identical chairs can share one specification. Assign six to the dining room and four to the study.
1. Assign locations and quantities
Open the product details.
In Summary → Product details, find Locations & quantities. Before you add a location, enter the total in Quantity.
Select an existing location or create a new location.
Enter the quantity for that location.
Add each remaining location and enter its quantity.
Check the first quantity when splitting an existing total. The first location inherits the product's current quantity; additional locations start at zero. For ten chairs split six and four, change the first allocation to six before adding four to the second.
Before adding a location, enter the total in Quantity under Locations & quantities. Once locations are assigned, edit their individual quantities; Total quantity is read-only.
2. Manage project locations
To give your team a shared list of rooms or areas, create the project locations in advance:
Open Project settings → Locations.
Select Create location.
Enter the location name.
Repeat for each room, floor or area.
Rename or delete locations in Project settings → Locations. You can also open these settings from Manage locations in the product details.
3. View products by room or area
Group by location to show products under room or area headings:
Return to the product list.
Select Group on the filter bar.
Select Location.
Use Sort and the ordering controls to set the order of products and headings.
Select Save on the filter bar. Save the arrangement as a schedule.
To show only one room or area, select it under Filter → Location. Grouping arranges products under headings. Filtering controls which products appear.
