Setting up the Programa extension for SketchUp

Written by Gail Esterhuyse

The Programa extension connects your SketchUp model to your Programa project. Use this guide to install the extension, sign in and connect your file.

Note: The Programa extension is available only in SketchUp desktop on Mac and Windows. SketchUp for Web and the iPad app do not support extensions.

1. Install the extension

  1. In SketchUp, open the Extension Warehouse.

  2. Search for Programa, or open the Programa listing in Extension Warehouse.

  3. Click Install.

  4. Follow the prompts.

After installation, Programa appears in the Extensions menu.

Update an existing installation

  1. Open Extension Manager > Manage.

  2. Next to Programa, click Update.

2. Open the extension and sign in

  1. In SketchUp, click the Extensions menu at the top of the screen.

  2. Select Programa.

  3. Click Open Panel. The Programa panel opens.

  4. Click Sign in with Programa. The sign-in page opens in your browser.

  5. Sign in.

  6. Return to SketchUp.

3. Connect your SketchUp file to a Programa project

Each SketchUp file connects to one Programa project.

  1. In the Programa panel, click the project dropdown.

  2. Select the project that you want to connect to this file.

  3. Click Connect.

A green dot next to the project name shows that the connection works.

4. Use the panel tabs

After you connect your project, use the two main tabs:

Tab

Use

Product Library

Find items in your Programa Product Library. Place 3D models and apply materials.

Schedules

Sync products, materials and changes between your model and your project’s Schedule.

5. Refresh the extension

If you change information in Programa while SketchUp is open, reload the extension to refresh the panel.

If the panel shows old information, reload the extension.

6. Undo an action

To undo a change in your SketchUp model, select Edit > Undo in SketchUp. For example, undoing a component deletion restores the component.

If you already applied that deletion to your Schedule, Undo does not automatically reverse the Schedule update. The restored component creates a new quantity change to review.

For example, you delete one of two chairs and apply the quantity change from 2 to 1. If you undo the deletion in SketchUp, the extension shows a new change from 1 to 2.

Review and apply that change to update your Schedule.
