Use the Product Library tab to place 3D models and apply materials or paint colors from your Programa Product Library.
Before you start, install the extension, sign in and connect your project. See Setting up the Programa extension for SketchUp
To sync your model with your Schedule, see Sync between SketchUp and your Programa Schedule.
Note: The Programa extension is available only in SketchUp desktop. SketchUp for Web and the iPad app do not support extensions.
After you connect your project, open the Product Library tab. The tab shows all items in your Programa Product Library.
1. Find items in your library
Use one of these methods:
Search: Enter a search term in the search bar at the top of the panel.
Filter: Select the filters that you need. These filters match the filters in your Programa Product Library on the web.
2. If the library product already has a 3D model: Place it in SketchUp
A 3D icon in the top-right corner of the product card means the product has an attached 3D file. Use this file to represent the product in your SketchUp model.
Use the search bar or filters to find the item.
On the item card, click the download icon.
Place the 3D model in the required location in your SketchUp model.
3. If the library product has no 3D model: Find one in 3D Warehouse
If the product card has no 3D icon, choose a 3D model to represent the product. For example, find a similar mixer model for a mixer saved in your Product Library.
Use Search 3D Warehouse to find the model and link it to the library product:
Search your library for the product. For example, enter “mixer”.
On the item card without a 3D icon, click the three-dot menu.
Select Search 3D Warehouse. The extension shows the most relevant results.
Select the 3D model that you want to use for the library product.
Click the download button in the search results. This brings the component into the extension panel.
In the extension panel, click download again to place the component in your SketchUp model.
4. Use a library product image as a material in SketchUp
Use this option when you want the image’s pattern or texture on a surface in your model. For example, use a tile, timber or stone image to represent a finish.
You can use any image saved with a library product. Tile is an example of this workflow.
To apply a single paint color from an image, use section 5.
Example: Apply a terrazzo tile
In the Programa panel, search for the material. For example, enter “tile”.
Find the terrazzo product.
Click the three-dot menu.
Select Add to materials panel. A material swatch preview appears.
If the product has several images, use the arrows to select an image for the swatch.
Click Select swatch.
Click Add to materials.
When the success message appears, click Find. SketchUp’s Colors / Materials panel opens.
Select the face in your model that needs the finish. SketchUp applies the material.
5. Pick a flat paint color from a library image for SketchUp
Use this option when you want one solid color on a surface in your model. The color picker takes a color from the image instead of using the image as a texture.
For example, a paint swatch photo may include a background. Use the eyedropper to select the paint color so the background does not appear on your model.
Search your library for the paint. For example, enter “paint”.
Select the required color.
Click the three-dot menu.
Select Add to materials panel.
In the swatch preview, click the dropdown next to “Pick a color”. The color picker opens.
Select the eyedropper tool.
Click the area of the swatch that has the required color.
Click Select swatch.
Click Add to materials. The color appears in the Materials panel.
Select the face in your model.
Apply the color.
6. Find a library product you have placed in SketchUp
Use Find in model to select every copy of a product in your SketchUp file.
In the Programa panel, search for the product. For example, enter “mixer”.
On the item card, click the three-dot menu.
Select Find in model.
SketchUp selects every copy of that 3D component. For example, if your model contains 10 copies of a mixer, SketchUp selects all 10.
